65歳以上高齢者4人1人が働いている時代が到来

2018年9月28日総務省より、65歳以上で就業している高齢者の割合が「24.5％」だったことを公表。先月8月時点では「24.0％」だったが、1ヶ月程で0.5％上昇した。

この数値は、高齢者の4人に1人が働いていることになる。上昇した要因としては、企業の人手不足から高齢者の採用が増えたためだ。

厚生労働省が公表した8月の有効求人倍率が「1.63倍」で44年ぶりに高水準をたたき出した。また65歳以上の就業者数については「872万人」で、10年前と比べて297万人も増えたことが分かった。

これは今まで、高齢者を雇っていなかった企業も採用し始めたためである。また、高齢者は時間の融通が利きやすいため、65歳以上のパートタイムで働く労働者も増え続けている。ちなみにパートタイムで働く65歳以上の高齢者は全国で約「242万人」いる。

政府は、高齢者がより働きやすい環境を整備するために、まず65歳以上の継続雇用年齢を引き上げる方針を検討中だ。この方針が決まれば、今後一層働く高齢者が増えるだろう。

さらに、働き世代に高齢者世代が加わることで、医療保険や介護保険といった保険料の確保がより一層狙える仕組みだ。
